The oeuvre of Ysbrant (1937- 2021) exudes lust for life and sensuality. He was not an orthodox graphic artist, but brought his emotional world to life through a combination of his painting skills and graphic techniques. His prints are often printed in multiple colours or enhanced with watercolour and silver or gold leaf. The compositions are usually fiery and sometimes intimate and tender. Expressive female figures, with braids and in richly pleated dresses are dominant in Ysbrant's boisterous oeuvre. Besides his paintings and his works for the theatre, Ysbrant produced etchings, stone prints and linographies.
Together with his dear friend, the poet Remco Campert, he realised several bibliophile editions, including the collection of poems "Vergane dagen‘’ published in collaboration with The friends of De Zwarte Panter.
